Reading All Day

Emma Hedditch

Les Complices* invites you for a day of reading by artist, writer and activist Emma Hedditch. For 8 hours of the day, Emma will read some of her own writing, in addition to texts selected for their significance and need to be read in this particular moment.

Reading All Day is dedicated to the influence of reading on consciousness, which gives us tools to act and think, and reading as an act of protest and insistence, an enduring enunciation, shared socially.

This will be a symbolic act in comparison to the recent acts of reading, and speaking, for example Wendy Davis's near eleven hour epic and courageous speaking marathon, protesting the anti-abortion laws in Texas or the public reading protests on Taksim Square in Istanbul.

Reading All Day will take place at a number of locations. Starting at 10am in the kitchen of Emma's temporary home at Wuhrstrasse 8, 8003 Zurich (flat: Andrea Thal) the performance will continue in the nearby Kollerwiese park from around midday, walk to Helvetiaplatz at around 2pm and end at Les Complices*.

The Performance will be held in English and can be joined at any time.
