The Wildes

Ida & Henry Wilde
(aka Keren Ida Nathan & Werner Hirsch / Antonia Baehr)

The Wildes invite you on two successive days to their victorian salon. You, the guests, awaits an exhibition and a publication, performed texts and animated images, light refreshments and even lighter entertainment, cattish wall decoration, a cornucopia of hats and silk scarves; as well as the history of the unconsumed marriage of Ida and Henry Wilde. The Wildes thus share episodes of their private live in a salon that lends an entirely new visibility to their everyday performance.

Since several years Ida Wilde has been drawing the real life of Mr. and Mrs. Wilde in victorian-style illustrations now exhibited at the salon. The most recent illustrations of Henry Wilde are shown, narrated and sung to in his performance and storytelling lecture.
The hosts will mingle with the guests, tea and more substantial drinks are on offer, so is cake and cookies. The mood and costumes are expected to be ceremonial, the conversations courtly. Furthermore the evening is likely to challenge certain notions of identity, gender, marriage, and community.

Both evenings follow a similar course of events.

We cordially invite you to arrive in time, if possible in elaborate costumes.
